Salinas Valley Gymnastics Team
Welcome to SVG's Team! Team is an exciting and fundamental part of any gymnast's goals and dreams. Here at SVG we promote the team experience with a positive outlook and stand firmly behind our team program.
Here at SVG, we strive to promote a positive and fun atmosphere for all our programs. The gymnasts in our recreational classes are aspiring team members, as well! The team atmosphere is a healthy and growing environment from which everyone can learn.
Upon entering our team program, you will be given an outline of how our team program works: the gymnast's responsibilities, parents' responsibilities, meet guidelines, and expectations of everyone in the team family.

SVG Team Statement
At SVG our goal is to promote gymnast potential. We will provide a safe and positive environment to help everyone achieve their dreams.
Our team program is supported by our team families and SVG coaches. Our coaches are highly trained in the latest techniques and are caring and supportive in all aspects of gymnastics.
Our lower team levels (3 - 6) will be expected to work out a minimum of 9 hours a week. This helps keep all team members at appropriate skill level and fosters team camaraderie. Each compulsory team member will be evaluated by team coaches as to move-ups.
Each gymnast will be required to maintain a healthy workout schedule as well as a healthy body and mind. All gymnasts will be required to keep up with their schoolwork and keep good grades and study habits. In order to keep a place on our team program, school is of the utmost priority. Failure to do so may result in removal from the team program.
Our optional level teams (7 - 10) will require a more strenuous workout schedule consisting of more workout hours set by the optional team coach. This workout will usually be 4 days a week for 4 hours per workout. During season, workouts will be more focused and demanding. Optional team members will be evaluated by team coaches and a mutual decision as to move-ups will be made.
Our compulsory level team (3 - 6) will require at least a 3 day workout with 3 - 4 hours per workout. During season, workouts will be more focused and demanding. Scores and skill capability will also be taken into consideration.
Gymnasts are expected to regularly attend workouts unless arrangements have been made with the coach and alternative workout times have been arranged.

More on The SVG Team
Gymnasts who want to join the team will be evaluated and accepted by the team coaches and then placed in the appropriate level based on skill proficiency. When placement has been determined, the prospective team member will be placed on a month trial period. After the month's trail, a decision of the team coach/coaches will be made. If for any reason the prospective team member is not accepted on the team, this does not mean she will not be asked again to try out for a spot at a later date. It simply means that the skill level was weak and more time is needed to master the necessary skills.
